Don't throw that hairdryer away – recycle it, with Cloud Nine!
As we count down to Earth Day (22nd April), we've got another great eco-initiative to share with you. If you've ever had a hairdryer break, or tongs go on the blink, or you've just upgraded your hairstyling kit, we've a hunch you will have thought: 'Oh, no – what to do with the old one?' Before sending it to landfill, in all probability.
So here's a brilliant initiative from Cloud Nine, a website offering all manner of hairstyling products, from heated rollers to straighteners to tongs and dryers. (Brushes, too.) Basically, NO MATTER WHAT THE BRAND – it doesn't have to be theirs – you can send your unwanted hair tools to them for recycling. They've been doing this since 2019, and their goal is to save 1.5 million tools from ending up in landfill.
It couldn't be easier. You fill in a form, and download a pre-paid postage label. (So it doesn't cost you a penny.) Then place your broken or unwanted tool in secure packaging, and drop at your nearest Post Office. Cloud Nine will take care of the rest. Yes, a little effort's required – but the satisfaction of knowing that you're not trashing the environment just 'cos you want nice-looking hair is really quite something, we think.
We're all for not upgrading tools unless absolutely needed – that's the most sustainable option – but this is a really positive step for the hair world.
