Fab Find of the Week: Purdy & Figg Floor Cleaner

Yup. Floor cleaner is our Fab Find, this week. (Well, floor cleaner and surface cleaner, but more on that in a mo.)

Now, there are all sorts of reasons we love cleaning our homes. Hygiene, first off; cleanliness may not quite be next to godliness (whatever that is), but we find that having a pristine, organised space – whether that’s bathroom, kitchen or desk – is not only healthier for body, but also for helping with clarity and focus.

In fact, if you do it mindfully, cleaning can be almost meditative. And that’s where this brand comes in, for us. We’ve been fans of Purdy & Figg, in Jo’s case with a paid subscription, since they first launched their fab-scented cleaning products. (Even before: we wrote about their debut product, a hand sanitiser, here.)

Purdy & Figg truly elevate cleaning to a pleasure, from a chore – and now, even floor cleaning can be that bit sexier, with the launch of their Floor Cleaner, which Purdy & Figg just gifted Jo.

We may have said we love cleaning, but… does anyone ever really love running a mop over the floor? That was our thinking till these scented floor cleaners arrived. You mix one 10ml scoop (provided) with five litres of water, and the scent starts wafting nose-wards immediately. We are hard-pressed to choose a favourite, from the three available:

• Vetiver & Coriander Seed Floor Clean – a little bit spicy, a little bit citrusy, with a touch of smoke. We love cool, grassy vetiver, and so this is true joy.

• Geranium & Lemon – again, we’re suckers for geranium essential oil, blended here with an expensive-smelling lemon note that’s a world apart from most lemon-fragranced cleaning products. (Note: Purdy & Figg fragrances are made from all-natural ingredients, with scents from essential oils and other botanical essences.)

• Patchouli & Cedarwood – the one we’d like to dab behind our ears! But instead will content ourseves with swishing over the kitchen floor, for warm, woody wafts. Really is meditative, this one…

As if this wasn’t pimping our cleaning regime enough, we have just received the ‘summer drop’ from Purdy & Figg, whose idea is that you conjure the scent of summer hols without leaving home, with a trio of Mediterranean Counter Clean products: Jasmine & Neroli (it’s quite simply divine), Rock Rose & Cedarwood (super-sophisticated) and uplifting, aromatic Bergamot & Clary Sage. A clever idea, and with scents like this, you may find yourself wanting to staycation (um, in an ultra-clean home). How to use? Simply pour into the Bottle for Life – which comes with the kit, along with a plush blue microfibre cloth – and get spritzing.

And we are honestly looking around as we write, to see what we can clean next…
