Fab Find of The Week: Maeva Rae candles

We pretty much worship the water that Frances Prescott walks on. (Appropriate, since she lives in Whitstable.) One of our favourite-ever facialists, she has magic fingers, oodles of style and great creativity.

Oh, and bags of entrepreneurial drive. Which is clearly something that can be passed on in the DNA, because she just collaborated on a beautiful scented candle range with her daughter, Scarlet.

It’s called Maeva Rae, and the candles are designed to marry ‘indulgence and self-care with mindfulness and science.’

As Scarlett writes, ‘Growing up in a creative household I was inspired and influenced by both my parents. Witnessing my mum’s success creating her own award-winning beauty brand, I felt the urge to create a concept that reflected my passion for fragrance and the industry’s need for more sustainable options in the beauty and living space.’

She continues: ‘I became excited by the idea of creating 100% natural fragrances that offer a truly beautiful aromatic experience. From flower to flame, I started experimenting with vegan wax and scientifically validated fragrance oils to create the ultimate range of mood-enhancing scented candles, at a high percentage of 10%, that offer a truly unforgettable sensory experience.’

And they are honestly lovely.

Calm, for instance (and gosh, don’t we all need a bit of that right now?) features sweet basil to ease tension, and a waft of vanilla to improve sleep.

Invigorate harnesses the energy-boosting properties of eucalyptus, along with fir balsam and juniper berry, together with thyme, patchouli and sandalwood. Aromatic, and just  lovely on these dark, dismal mornings. (We don’t save our candles for night-time, but like to kick off the day with an uplifting scent.)

Last, and seasonally appropriately, is Joy, with a glorious burst of orange blossom, and a touch of zingy, spirit-lifting bergamot, along with green galbanum, white jasmine, tuberose, honeysuckle and rose.

Perhaps the best way to find your fave, and progress to a larger size, is via The Collection, with three small candles.

Though frankly, we love them all. And Frances. (And Scarlet, even though we’ve yet to meet her. A jolly good excuse for an outing to Whitstable, we’d say.
