Diptyque La Droguerie

We have suddenly come over all Mrs. Mop, with the launch of Diptyque's first cleaning products line.

Yup. You read that right. DIPTYQUE CLEANING PRODUCTS.

But before we share news of this range: a disclaimer: of COURSE they aren't cheap. They're Diptyque, for heaven's sake! And we know there's a cost of living crisis going on. And while your best friend at first glance might not thank you for giving her a multi-surface spray for her birthday: trust us, she will once she's sniffed it. (And she will later be refilling it, which is something the range really has going for it; these unboxed refills are anticipated to save two tonnes of paper each year, and the same of ink.)

So, let us drill down into what we think are the 'stars' of the range...

Multi-Surface Cleaner with Vinegar/£32 for 500ml. In the same gorgeous brown apothecary bottle as the washing-up liquid, this harnesses the legendary cleaning power of vinegar, but infused with a beautiful aromatic scent of lavender, fig and cedar, created (like the other fragrances) by perfumer Olivier Pescheux. Good for inside fridges, doorknobs, switches, food processors (but just one caveat: avoid marble, quartz and similar surfaces).

Anti-Odour Candle with Basil/£51. Unexpectedly this is turning out to be one of our favourite Diptyque candles ever, formulated actually to absorb stinky molecules from cooking, unwashed laundry or stale tobacco. It's got a real herb garden/greenhouse scent to it, thanks to the basil, plus mint and tomato leaf.

Dishwashing Liquid with Orange Blossom and Cleaning Brush/£32 for 500ml. Not JUST orange blossom, but also mandarin and basil, which we promise will make you feel 1,000 times more positive about the washing up than you ever have been. (The stiff little wooden brush is for scrubbing your veg.) Fairy, it ain't. NB Our favourite in the whole collection, this is currently unavailable online, but you can click here to reserve in a Diptyque store.

The range also features Leather & Wood Care Lotion with Beeswax (we literally have it on a birthday wishlist, which is probably a bit sad), and a Ceramic Oval for Wool and Delicate Textiles, to guard against moths, and which you reactivate with just one spritz of the fragrant liquid.

Beyond your budget? We absolutely ADORE the robot photography Diptyque have created to launch the range, above – couldn't choose, so we montaged several of them – and it's completely free, to smile at those.
