Fab Find of The Week: COOLA suncare

The sun has DEFINITELY got its hat on… and we’re coming out to play – safely.

This has been a go-to suncare range whenever we’ve needed that extra summer protection. Purchased on holiday in far-flung locations, most notably the Classic Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF50 Fragrance Free/£30 for 50ml, which offers really excellent facial protection – based on chemical sunscreens – but with something Coola call a ‘Plant Protection Complex’, which makes the formula way more nourishing than most facial sunscreens.

We were sent the above selection recently, and have to say we’re impressed as we slick and spritz our way through the rest of the range. Especially innovative: Makeup Setting Sunscreen Spray SPF30/£39 for 44ml, which is fab because it spritzes OVER your make-up, hydrating and protecting against UVA and UVB. Ergo, it can be used later on when you don’t want to disturb the make-up on your face, as well as a finishing flourish in the morning.

What went down well with small people in the house, meanwhile, is Classic Body Sunscreen Spray SPF30/£25 for 177ml, with the are-we-on-holiday-already? scent of Piña Colada. Literally invisible – spritz onto skin, and go, and apparently water-resistant for 80 minutes (though we certainly haven’t put that to the test because right now, in the English Channel, it would require a slightly longer-than-bearable immersion).

So: the sunscreens are traditional, rather than natural – and importantly, reef-safe – which results in a finish that’s invisible and needs hardly any blending/massaging into skin. Many of the other ingredients in there are botanically-sourced – rich and nourishing, which is what our complexions need, when sun-exposed. Unlike many we’ve trialled, we don’t experience sun-sensitivity, with Coola.

And that’s pretty cool…
