Chanel Hydra Beauty Camellia Repair Mask

We’ve been spending as much time outdoors as possible, for the most obvious of reasons, lately. And despite being slathered up with sunscreen and wearing hats whenever they won’t blow or fall off (gardening is VERY tricky with a wide-brimmed hat!), our skins have been getting a bit more sun than usual.

Result: unexpected dryness, long before the central heating kicks in. So this is a very welcome, VERY skin-quenching means of getting some much-needed moisture back in our skin.

Based around camellia wax, Chanel Hydra Beauty Camellia Repair Mask is rich, it’s dreamily creamy, and it offers instant comfort along with the enjoyment factor of a light, sophisticated floral scent. (Camellias have no scent of their own, of course.) Chanel recommend three ways to get the most out of it: either as a thick layer, slathered on and left for 10 minutes before removing with warm water (and we like to use a warm, wet flannel).

Secondly, or as a thin layer, the residue of which can be massaged into skin. Or – if you’ve a more combination complexion – you can use it to target the drier areas of the face, smoothing into skin with a massaging technique. (We have also trialled it as a sleeping mask, applied generously before bedtime and not removed at all, for plumped-up skin by morning.)

A splurge price, yes – but HOW much were you spending on takeaway coffee, before all this…?

Chanel also trialled it in winter conditions and after swimming, observing lasting hydration and even redness protection. To that list we can add: it’s brilliant after gardening on a hot day, too.
