The Positive Planner
This is something rather wonderful that Jo was alerted to by Holly Tucker, whose Instagram and Conversations of Inspiration podcasts are must-follows for small businesses or those whose enthusiasm needs stoking at this time. (As it regularly does, frankly. Just getting through the day is energy-sapping.) As this is Mental Health Awareness Week, itβs the perfect time to share it with you.
We are great believers in the power of writing intentions, plans and lists down. Itβs probably more important than ever at the moment, when the structure of our lives has gone to pot, in many households, and itβs easy to feel cast adrift.
The sunshine yellow book The Positive Planner is a 12-week planner created by two women whose mission βis to empower everyone to make their mental health a priority!β As they put it, βitβs a traditional journal meets DIY therapist.β
Ali (above right) is a former costume and set designer, while her business partner Finn (left) is a former former hairdresser and salon owner, and together they crowdfunded the money to invest in their first planners. The idea is to use it planner daily to track your mood and feelings (positive and negative), write down things youβre grateful, make intensions for the day/week/month, plan your meals, find some affirmations that may help you β and generally just check in with your mental wellbeing. As we all start to unravel a bit through #lockdown, this hardback planner has never been more welcome.
We very much hope that youβre doing OK right now. If youβre not, then youβre definitely not alone. Many people feel more in control when they start to write things down in this way β but you still donβt, though, Finn and Ali offer a list of mental health resources on their website, here.
Weβre definitely giving this to some friends who are having a tough time. Maybe you might consider doing the sameβ¦?

PS One thing we really like is that thereβs a βwater trackerβ at the bottom of each dayβs entries, so you can check in with your water intake, too. (We honestly feel better after every glass of water β especially if weβre stressed.) Itβs a good nudge.
PPS Do also check out their Instagram @the_positive_planner β lots of uplifting stuff posted regularly.
