Nursem handcare

Right now, of course, nurses are our heroes. And doctors. And anyone who’s volunteering to help the NHS in other ways. But all of our hands at the moment are taking the kind of battering nurses are used to 24/7, assaulted by anti-bac gels and constant hand-washing.

So we wanted to draw your attention to a rising star handcare brand which was founded by Antonia Philp, a paediatric nurse who often came home with sore, cracked and bleeding hands as a result of the constant sanitising of hands. (In 2011, this became so bad that she had to take a week off work.)

She and her husband Jonny came up with the idea for a formula that was something nurses could use repeatedly throughout a busy shift, which was naturally protective and free from harsh chemicals. Their Nursem range took seven years of work, but they now offer gently protective skincare formulas for all of our hard-working hands.

There’s the most wonderful spirit behind this brand – which we first encountered at the CEW Product Demo Evening, what feels like a lifetime ago now, back in February. They are on a mission to make sure that every nurse and midwife gets Nursem for free – so for every product sold, they give a month’s worth of free Nursem to a nurse or midwife.

There are three products in the range: Caring Hand Cream/£9.99 for 75ml, and Caring Hand Wash/£9.99 for 300ml. (This isn’t specifically anti-bacterial, but they have a video about handwashing on their site and point out that this is just as effective as soap at minimising the spread of coronavirus.)

There’s also a Caring Hand Fix/£14.99 for 50ml, which we have to say is our favourite because it is such a heavy-duty yet pleasurable to use product, powered by hyaluronic acid, avocado oil, shea butter, along with soothing allantoin and colloidal oatmeal.
