Leighton Denny Nail Rebirth

How much nail and cuticle treatment is enough? These single dose, compostable vege-caps from Leighton Denny take the guesswork out of nightly nailcare. (Super-lightweight, they’re also perfect for slipping in a handbag interior pocket, to be whisked out and smoothed into the nail zone when we’re being kept waiting – which is how we always like to spend that little window of downtime.)

After a summer of gardening – confession: WITHOUT GLOVES – nails were frankly in a parlous state, so we decided to give this a go. The jar took up residence on the bedside table and each night, a capsule was duly opened and the slightly oily formula smoothed into nails and cuticles. (We discovered there’s enough in each capsule to do all fingernails and all toes, too.)

After a fortnight, there’s a really positive difference: cuticles are soft and pliable, barely visible, while nails – already strengthened, weirdly, by lockdown (a phenomenon many have reported) – are really resilient. But now you’d never know that we’ve been elbow-deep in compost for several months, whenever the opportunity presented itself. NB You need to keep nails bare, during the treatment period – but we’ve been doing that lately anyway.

No need to use it for longer than 14 days, so there are enough capsules in the jar for another burst when nails seem to be becoming fragile, or cuticles get raggedy again. (They recommend about once every three months, to keep nails in optimum health, and perhaps .)

Meanwhile, we’ll keep a couple tucked in the tote for those being-kept-waiting moments. Something else we’ll never take for granted, because being kept waiting = an actual, #IRL appointment…
