land&water

This most timely range just landed on our desks, and we have to share.

A new British bath and body collection, both land&water’s philosophy and their products have pushed our buttons. The range was created by Pix Ashworth, whose family own Cornwall’s Watergate Bay Hotel. She worked with perfumer and apothecarist Richard Howard on a range designed to evoke ‘the therapeutic benefits of time in the elements.’ Definitely something that many are craving right now, as we recover – literally, recover mentally and physically – from our recent locked-down incarceration.

We rarely quote wholesale from any brand (and are always shocked when others parrot press releases!), but we so love the way land&water talk about themselves that we can’t help sharing. Their ‘philosophy’ is divided into sections called ‘SHORELINE’ and ‘WARM GLOW’, and this is from the former.

‘A blast of fresh air, a break from the everyday: relaxation is about so much more than a candlelit bath. For us, it’s about awakening the senses with day-seizing moments, as much as resting adventure-tired limbs. Time outside makes us feel better inside.

Sea, lake or river; beach, cliff or shore. land&water grew from many joyful moments spent on the threshold between dynamic and restful; a place and a mindset that informs everything we do.

Inspired by being in, on, or looking out over water, and the invigorating and restorative effect it has on us, our products capture that emotion with a blend of buoyant citrus and serene, green and woody notes. Feel the journey from cold waves to warm firesides, long walks to slow baths; breathlessness to gentleness – and back again.’

We think these visuals from land&water also gives a feel of their laid-back, life-needs-to-be-simpler vibe, and the grounding yet uplifting feel of the range.

We’ve honestly loved everything we’ve tried so far but favourites are probably the Hand Wash and Hand Lotion/£32 for the duo, with their absolutely glorious scents – Grapefruit, Lime & Mint for the wash, and Grapefruit, Orange & Neroli for the gloriously nourishing but not-too-rich hand cream. The zesty, oil-infused Salt Scrub/£20 for 300g is a winner, too. (There’s also a Candle and a Reed Diffuser in Mandarin & Mint – note, the diffuser is WAY more stylish than most – as well as haircare, bath salts and a Bath & Body Oil, which is wonderfully warming, with its notes of ginger.)

Simple pleasures, all of them. Just right, for now – and a still-uncertain future.
