Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia newness

This fragrance has become a modern classic, since its launch 12 years ago. Now, that’s a launch Jo remembers well, having been seated next to the perfumer Christine Nagel at the launch (which happened at Keats’s house in Hampstead). It smelled so new: all juicy and crunchy, with pretty freesia-wafts, but with a wonderful trail and staying power on the skin (there’s more than a jigger patchouli in there, brilliant for tethering a scent to the body, and also a favourite ingredient of ours.)

Ever since then, Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia has always spelled ‘autumn’, to us – so as the leaves start to fall (*sob*), this is the perfect time for them to have launched a new collection, including some limited edition items and (for the first time), home fragrance.

Definitely worth swinging by a Jo Malone London counter for a sniff, a spritz, a rediscovery – and to check out the items in the collection, some of which are only available for two months, so you’d better be quick. Our favourites? Below…

• The gorgeous fluted special edition bottle, for the English Pear & Freesia Cologne/from £55 for 30ml, in a too-gorgeous-for-words pear-shaped Jo Malone London box, see below. (Fact: we have never NOT kept a Jo Malone box, ever! Buttons, stamps, desk accessories, cards…)

English Pear & Freesia Hand Collection/£36 for 2 x 50ml. Enriched with apricot kernel oil, shea butter, clary sage extract, and generous quantities of the fragrance itself. This set contains two – a great Christmas gift to tuck away, we suggest.

English Pear & Freesia Home Candle/£55 – it works amazingly well as a home fragrance, actually – fresh, floral, but with that cool juiciness of the pear note. (There’s also a cute Travel Candle/£25.)

And if you aren’t up for splashing out on something, right now? Enjoying the Tim Walker film for the launch is completely free. Watch it here (just scroll down a bit for the full video).
