Beauty Bible Loves... Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Make-up Collection

With Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu launched on 19th August (Coco Chanel’s birthday) – and a report to come on that, on Jo’s Scent Notes – we also wanted to share this beautiful and restrained new make-up collection from CHANEL.

Wearable, classic, we love the demure vibe of this. Not every day is a red lipstick, va-va-voom make-up sort of day, and somehow (is this too deep?), these seem to match the mood of the moment, which isn’t all razzmatazz and celebratory, if you read the newspapers or watch the news.

But at any time, and by any measure, these are beautiful and covetable make-up items, any one of which would be an immensely cheering splurge, if you’re feeling in need. These new launches have also succeeded in making us feel excited about autumn. (Even more so when we watched CHANEL’s film about the collection, here.)

So, in this limited edition collection, find…

CHANEL Rouge Coco (Crush)/£47 – the brand tells us that this has ‘been reimagined as a lip care formula with an intuitive glide-on texture’. Crush is a suits-all-skintones neutral shade of mauve/lilac, but what we really love about this is that the CHANEL logo has been embossed on the bullet. Too, too cute.

CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof (Brun Agapé)/£26 – there’s a shift afoot towards brown, rather than black, both for lining eyes and for mascara – a gentler look. This is Jo’s go-to eyeliner, meanwhile, for its total budge-proof-ability.

CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Polish (Coco)/£30 – the just-released Coco shade is what we want on our nails this autumn: a sheer, soft, ballerina-ish pink. (Nail trends are definitely understated for the coming months – absolutely classic and flattering to all.)

CHANEL Joues Contraste Intense (Rose Radiant)/£46 – instantly perkifying and the loveliest, silkiest, softest, most blendable texture, to avoid any hard edges.

CHANEL Les 9 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette/£103 – obviously the mega-splurge, here, but this would probably last you the rest of your life, with its sueded neutrals and shimmery highlight shadows, in utterly classic shades. It is verily a thing of beauty.

We’re shaking the piggy bank as we write.

NB At time of press, some of the stock below was still awaiting delivery. Patience – as well as demureness – is a virtue, here.
