Aurelia Overnight Recovery Mask

As if post-holiday come-down isn’t bad enough (writes Jo, after 12 sun-baked days in the Canary Islands), there’s the skin thing.

Why is it that the minute you step off a flight, the holiday dewiness has already departed and skin starts to look like parched as a desert landscape?

Well, the obvious answer is the damage wrought by arid in-flight air. And the answer is this mask, from Aurelia, which (literally overnight) put back that moisture and plumpness. (It had sat on Jo’s bathroom shelf for a while, as if waiting for an opportunity like this.)

She applied a quite scarily thick layer of the formula, which is rich in shea butter, alongside aloe vera, meadowsweet, anti-inflammatory arnica and oat powder, calendula and yarrow. The mask was thick enough to look quite white on skin, when smothered on an hour before bedtime, but even by the time her face hit the pillow it had sunk in already. By morning? Baby-soft and – well, entirely recovered.

Turns out it’s actually good for blemishes and redness, too. But we certainly think EasyJet should hand out a sachet, on touch-down.
