Beauty Bible Loves... AKT The Haze Body Deodorizing Mists
Well, this is the first deodorant we’ve come across that frankly smells so good, we’d like to spray it on our pulse-points, not just our sweat glamds.
AKT’s new The Haze is a fine, alcohol-free body mist that brings proper deodorising action with the added bonus of a completely gorgeous fragrance. But rather than attempting to perfume over perspiration, it uses a meadowsweet-derived active, to tackle the odour-causing bacteria before they develop, along with niacinamide, panthenol, prebiotics and soothing allantoin.
We’ve written about AKT before, but here’s the back story again. Ed Currie and Andy Coxon met in London’s West End, enduring eight shows a week, punishing rehearsal schedules and hot lights — while standard deodorants stained costumes or simply failed them. After three years of kitchen experimentation, they began testing their deodorant with fellow performers, then launched AKT in 2020 when lockdown brought their acting work to an abrupt halt.
The first deodorants were cream-based, but this is a real quantum leap forward, for us – a delivery system everyone’s familiar with. And it’s the scent of SC.05 Columbia Road (named after the East End’s flower market) which had us at ‘curtain up’, here – a sort of ‘Mummy’s handbag’ scent, swirling with violet and rose, cut stems, musk and amber (rather like a theatrical face powder, actually).
It’s divine, but if that sort of scent doesn’t push your buttons, check out some of the other (beautifully composed) fragrances. Love citrus? Try SC.01 Orange Grove, which zings with petitgrain, mandarin & neroli, while if you like crisp, invigorating scents, try the cedar/eucalyptus/bitter orange combo in SC.02 After Thunder.
