Amy Loves... Late Summer 2022

Beauty Bible’s Associate Editor Amy Eason has been with us for over 12 years, during which time she’s honestly become as knowledgeable about brands and launches as Jo and Sarah. So when she says she loves something, sit up and take note! Here, then, are Amy’s end-of-summer choices…

Dr Jacksons Face and Eye Essence (above)

My skin has been craving lighter and preferably cooling hydration during these hot summer months, so this new favourite from Dr. Jacksons has become a particular hero in the heat. It’s deliciously light, packs a powerful moisture boost but also has a toning effect thanks to damask rose flower water. Aloe leaf juice and chamomile flower oil give gentle calming – a welcome treat when you’re left with that tight feeling after a day on the beach.

It’s designed to be used on the delicate eye area as well, so a brilliant two-in-one for your travel bag.

Going to try keeping this in the fridge for added ahhhhh…

Rahua Hydration Hair Mask

I do adore the sunshine but I can’t deny that it’s been ravaging my bleached locks – combined with daily dips in the salty sea and I’m looking rather dry and bedraggled. Cue this miraculous mask from Rahua.

Their whole range is based around the Amazonian rahua, morete, and Sacha Inchi oils - which have been used for generations as powerful hair and skin tonics. The brand work with local tribes to sustainably cultivate these precious rainforest ingredients and the results are outstanding. I left the mask on overnight – just on my extra parched ends, and by morning they were silky smooth. Then I used as a conditioning mask after shampooing and was left with bouncy, shiny, happy hair. I’m packing their brilliant travel minis for my upcoming late summer break – also a fab excuse to try some more of this exciting brand.

Decléor Néroli Night Balm

Dr Jackson’s has been taking care of my skin during the day but come night time I’ve been turning to this Decléor balm for some extra soothing, bumper moisturisation. It’s full of nourishing botanicals and essential oils that my skin laps up - plus the heavenly néroli scent is divinely relaxing before bed. I’ve just loved incorporating this into my evening wind down routine.

Slip Scrunchies

Carrying on the hair theme, this time accessories - and who doesn’t love accesories…? These silk scruchies from Slip have not only been saving me from snagged hair and split ends but I just adore the gorgeous colours (made with non-toxic dyes) - my faves being the sumptuous nude tones of Desert Rose but there are all sorts of shades on offer (I have my eye on the fun pink collab set with designer brand Alice + Olivia).

Dr. Janine Mahon Pivotal Body Scrub

Woweee - this has to be one of the best body scrubs ever to grace my bathroom and that’s saying something….

Following her years of experience in Chinese Medicine, Dr. Janine formulated her range to assist woman in areas of imbalance – all beginning with her hero product, the rejuvenating Breast Oil (do check out her site here for a brilliant breast massage tutorial).

The scrub is full of powerful ingredients, revered in TCM – such as mother of pearl, said to give luminosity to the skin and promote healing along with the energetic effect of soothing a heavy heart by helping to release and let go of old toxic energy and baggage. Bitter apricot kernel oil, rich in antioxidants and known in Chinese Medicine for its anti-tumour properties and the magnificent white frankincense, a rare variety that gives grounding and peace through its scent plus is good for moving the lymph.

I love the marrying physical benefits of these brilliant ingredients with the deeper energetics they hold, I save this scrub as a tool for not just rough skin that needs attention but also for when I’m needing some emotional, mental and spiritual healing… Thank you Dr. Janine!
