TINTED MOISTURISER

So, just the one winner this year – but a stellar one, so we’re thinking: quality, not quantity, here.

The thing about tinted moisturisers is that they’re generally more about the β€˜tint’ than the β€˜moisture’. Mostly, women find that they have to use their regular moisturiser or SPF underneath a tinted base like this, though if you have an oily or combination skintype, you may get away with it on its own.

The key, always: to ensure that it’s matched to your skin, by blending into the jaw; the right shade simply disappears seamlessly into your complexion.

GOLD AWARD Sculpted by Aimee Connolly Tint & Glow

Irish-based make-up brand Sculpted by Aimee Connolly – named after its suitably fresh-complexioned founder – has put on a brilliant performance in the Beauty Bible Awards 2023, winning here for a skin-boosting product powered by hyaluronic acid and niacinamide (a natural alternative to vitamin A), β€˜to create a healthy, glowing finish’. There’s an SPF30 – but remember, that only covers you where you apply it – and blue light protection, to boot. Testers commented that it offered really quite surprisingly good, medium coverage and literally everyone mentioned the word β€˜glow’ in their comments. It’s available in a great shade range – from ultra-pale to ebony. (And hurrah for that.)

OUR TESTERS’ COMMENTS:

β€˜Lightweight, sheer coverage – gives skin a healthy glow; this product would be especially great for a holiday in the sun’ β€’ β€˜Friends say my skin looked glowy and healthy! It’s a great product to use on day-to-day basis; skin looks and feels healthier. It leaves a lovely glow to my complexion and actually offered surprisingly more coverage than I initially expected’ β€’ β€˜It is so quick and easy to use; I topped it with a quick sweep of setting powder and blush and was pretty much ready to go’ β€’ β€˜Didn't feel tacky, settled down to a good colour and definitely gave off a pretty halo effect to the skin – it's a real brightener’ β€’ β€˜I did feel that I needed to use my regular moisturiser underneath – but it still felt quite plumping and hydrating’ β€’ β€˜I liked that it didn't transfer onto anything; I also loved how my skin felt at the end of the day when I removed it – soft and plump which is a testament to the skincare ingredients that it contains, I’d say’ β€’ β€˜Offers medium coverage, I’d say –even though it feels like a tinted moisturiser, I was surprised at how well it covered’ β€’ β€˜Very easy to use – not messy at all. I tried firstly with my fingers and then a foundation brush; I preferred using this product with my fingers as it warms the product up before applying it to my face. It promised a skin-boosting effect and a natural, radiant complexion; personally, for me, it covered the redness on my cheeks really well without needed a concealer in this particular area and gives my skin a really gorgeous glow’ β€’ β€˜Will I buy it again when I finally get to the end of the tube? YES, YES, YES! A fab little addition to the make-up bag that gives a lovely, very subtle glow. The older I get the more I like my make-up to look natural, and this really hits the mark for that. Brilliant for what I call no-make-up days as it really makes the skin glow.’
