Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: Curél skincare discoveries

Hands up who has dry skin, right now. A sea of hands, right?

Well, that’s what Curél have always been good at, ideal for dry, papery (and generally wintry) skin, because of its rich and super-gentle formulation. The original  a beauty classic, actually, from Japan’s No.1 skincare brand for sensitive skin (Curél belongs to Kao, who own Molton Brown and the John Frieda haircare lines, among other well-known names.)

They recently sent us a ‘double cleansing’ duo, along with a pot of the original Intensive Moisture Cream which served as a good reminder as to how swiftly and effectively Curél quenches thirsty skin. And the cleansers are both just great. No compulsion to use them both together, we’d say – unless you’re a massive fan of double cleansing – because they are effective in their own right. (Not cheap-cheap, but good vallue.)

We have to say we were super-cynical about using any kind of foaming cleanser, because of its drying potential, but Curél Foaming Face Wash is lush. You squirt a little from the pump, massage into skin and it develops a rich, shaving foam-like texture which is a pure pleasure; you then swish it away (or, our preferred choice, use one of our Lisa Eldridge cleansing cloths, which you can read about here). Its ‘sister’ cleanser is Curél Makeup Cleansing Oil, which has a luscious, super-rich texture that melts make-up and grime ahyand again, can effectively be removed with a cloth and hot water.

Skin’s then prepped for a good quench with Curél Intensive Moisture Facial Cream – that classic – and levels can be topped up during the day, even over make-up with a spritz of Curél Deep Moisture Spray.

Remember to keep your inner water level topped up by sipping a couple of litres a day, and you should be ready for whatever central heating and winter winds throw at you.

PS What we would add is that Curél could in no way be considered a natural range, and the key ingredient in many of its products is mineral oil, or paraffinum liquidum, a non-renewable resource. If that bothers you, you know we often make natural skincare recommendations.
