Feeling overheated? (Well, in a summer like this we can all dream.) According to Ayurveda, bitter, sweet and astringent tastes calm pitta energy (and pitta types really feel the heat). The best foods are apples, grapes, courgettes, lettuce, coriander, cucumber and fresh organic dairy. By contrast, eliminate or reduce alcohol, heavy meats, fried food, oily, salty, sour and spicy foods. In place of salt, try cooking with fennel seeds, fingers, coriander and fresh lime. All delicious!
