Just breathing the scent of roses can soothe overheated or irritated skin:  researchers in Japan have found that inhaling rose essential oil calms inflamed complexions.  (In Ayurvedic medicine, roses have always been prized for cooling and soothing an excess of the fire element, or pitta.)  If you have touchy skin, then, seek out rose-based skin treats.
