Fab Find of the Week: @c.atherleylondon No.3 💖 We bring you the third in Cath Kidston Padgham’s geranium-tastic collections: Geranium No.3. They’ve become an absolute cult fave of so many people, and really are helping to revive a love of ‘pellies’, as they’re fondly known. We’ve raved about Geranium No.1 (which was based on the scent of Pelargonium radens). We’ve got the trumpets out again for Geranium No.2, based around Jo’s favourite scented geranium, Pelargonium tomentosum, with its fabulously velvety, almost furry leaves and minty scent. And now we have this newbie, an incredibly lemony scent based on Pelargonium Mabel Grey, another of Cath’s favourite scented ‘pellies.’ The fragrances are all 100% natural, cleverly blended from essential oils to recreate so perfectly the plants that inspired them. A gem of an exhibition has opened to celebrate 155 years of @penhaligons fragrances, at 3 Hanover Square in London’s West End. Amazing archive bottles, a fascinating deep-dive into the history of this treasured English brand – first founded by William Penhaligon – and not only a chance to sniff your way through the current collection, but also buy exclusive (and fabulous) merch, in the ‘gift’ shop as you exit. You can also swoon over the FAH-BU-LOUS volume about Penhaligon’s from @taschen books. It’s only open till Sunday afternoon – and the bad news is that all online tickets are sold out, but we’re assured that Penhaligon’s are accepting walk-ins. Growing up, you were either a Palmolive family or an Imperial Leather family, the latter seeming to have a little more cachet. Astonishingly, the label on this widely-TV-advertised soap stayed put through to the last sliver – in fact, it outlived the last sliver, seemingly Superglued to the bar itself (although its conception definitely pre-dates Superglue). We have to say that the brand dropped off our radar somewhere along the way, due to an affection for even posher soaps. (One of life’s great small pleasures.) 🌟 Fab Find of the Week: @wonderbalm_ 🌟 Korean beauty has come to be associated with a multi-step regime, featuring many products and a lot of bells and whistles. What a relief, then, to find a Korean product that de-clutters your bathroom shelf/bedside table, rather than clutters it up. Wonderbalm really is a bit of a wonder. It’s not the first multi-tasking balm we’ve written about, and probably won’t be the last, but we’re enjoying finding more and more tasks that this glass pot of balm can perform. They claim ‘3-in-1’: eye pencil, eyeshadow and eyeliner. Certainly, it multi-tasks as a smooshable, so-easy eyeshadow, or a stronger pencil that can be used for defining. 3-in-1 Eyes Multitasker is self-sharpening, and the finish you get is all down to how hard you press – a little more force for eyelining, a lighter touch for shading. (Can be blended with fingers, or a synthetic eyeshadow brush.) It lasts well – they promise 12 hours and we wouldn’t contradict. Ssssssh... Why we’re loving @sephorauk Quiet Hours 😌 We’ve never been fans of shopping in stores pounding with loud music, where strip lights blazed. And as the years have gone by, that’s grown into active dislike. (Jo literally feels panicky and on sensory overload in department stores, and avoids them wherever possible.) So Sephora’s Quiet Hours Pilot Project is music to our ears – only NOT. It began a couple of weeks ago, and will run till 26th July, in selected stores. If it’s a success, Sephora – the first beauty retailer to pilot this idea worldwide – should be extending the scheme.
