We first met make-up artist Ruby Hammer MBE too long ago to mention – back in the day when she was the ‘Ruby’ in Ruby & Millie. And since then, we’ve been the hugest fans, not just for Ruby’s talent but her kindness and down-to-earthness in a world which sometimes isn’t. She is always seeking to empower, to educate and to help others on their beauty journey.

So we are literally bouncing like Tigger to have this prize to offer, from Ruby’s carefully considered beauty collection. (Three prizes to offer, actually.) Ruby only adds to her line when she feels there’s something truly worthwhile (rather than overloading our kits) – and we appreciate that. And several of these products are must-haves, as far as we’re concerned, which you’ll find in our own kits and on our bathroom shelves.

These balms (which we have in a range of shades ourselves) deliver instant comfort, nourishment and a wash of glam. And they’re so easy to apply, you could probably do it in the dark.

Ruby Hammer Mascara & Brow Duo (£28) – winner of a prestigious CEW Award, this is such a clever product. One end is a very fine mascara wand that makes it possible to access every last lash – it is completely brilliant for lower lashes, NB; the formula is a ‘tubing’ version, so it doesn’t budge until you remove with warm water. No flakes, no smudges, and no irritation (it’s great for sensitive eyes, like ours.) And at the other end? A great brow-groomer, to be swept over brows to gently coax and keep them in place. Ruby Hammer Precision Eyeliner (£18) in Brown – much kinder than black eyeliner for, er, more mature eyes, this swivel-up formula avoids any risk of scratching the eye-line.
