Jo Wood’s 7 Secrets of beauty and wellbeing

Great news for all green goddesses and hippy chicks: the gorgeous and adorable Jo Wood is re-launching her Organics Body Care range over the next year. It’s Jo’s personal passion: ‘I truly believe we should all be aware of what we’re putting on our skin as well as in our bodies, both for health and on principle. Why would I want to put synthetic chemicals and rubbish on me – why would anyone?’ All the products come in two fragrances – floral citrusy Amka and warm sensual Usiku, both of which will be available firstly as gorgeous eau de toilettes, launching November 17th/each £59 for 50 ml EDT at jowoodorganics.com.

And for the latest in our occasional series in which women we admire talk about what they do to stay looking and feeling great, Jo reveals more about her holistic lifestyle.

I live my life organically. I eat clean and organic, use natural products on my skin and hair – and always recycle. I hate plastic and try not to use it.

I’m a true believer in you are what you eat. I love super-foods like maca powder and chia seeds and like to have a 75% cent raw diet. I grow my own fruit and vegetables and have a compost bin in my garden for all my kitchen waste.

I take nutritional supplements. My daily staples are omega-3 oils, probiotics and vitamin D3. [We love supplements by Viridian Nutrition, an ethical and mostly organic brand.]

My skincare regime is pretty low-maintenance. I like Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Cleansing Facial Wipes/£4.99 for 30 (naturisimo.com), and Mother Dirt Face Oil and Facial Mist [not available in UK; we like Suti Rejuvenate Organic Face Oil, £39 for 30 ml and MV Organic Skincare Rose Hydrating Mist/£38 for 70ml at cultbeauty.co.uk]. For hair care, I use Noah Purifying Shampoo/£9.90 for 250 ml. (botanicahealth.co.uk), and Tabitha Organic 4-in-1 Conditioner (/travel size £9 from tabithajameskraan.co.uk) and Hair Perfume (£39 for 60ml.)

I use Louise Redknapp's Wild About Beauty make-up. The lip pencil, mascara and eyeliner are my favourites. They’re full of natural ingredients including botanicals and beeswax. I model my black eye make-up on Bridget Bardot. My beauty icon? I’ve always loved Marilyn Monroe and nowadays [French actress] Audrey Tautou’s natural beauty.

I use a salt scrub most mornings, to keep my body exfoliated and cleansed. I’m trialling a new version of my own at the moment, before it launches next spring. There will be versions in both Usiku and Amka scents.

For exercise, I absolutely love boxing. It releases stress and makes me concentrate, and it’s a fantastic work out. It’s also a great way to spend time with my son, Tyrone, because we go to classes together.

The only beauty rule that I really live by is that I never go to bed with makeup on, ever.
