Jo Wood's smokey eye tutorial

It's the most-Googled beauty term - and here, the ultimate smokey-eyed beauty shares her secrets Women everywhere, we've found, want to learn how to achieve a smokey eye.  It's sexy.  It's sultry.  It kinda doesn't matter if it's smudged by lunchtime (never mind by dawn), because that's the point.

Our favourite poster girl for this make-up look, though, is Jo Wood.  An old friend of ours, who recently brought out a page-turning autobiography with - yes - lots of sex, drugs and (naturally) rock 'n' roll. It might come as a surprise, then, that this is a woman who never, ever falls into bed with her make-up on, no matter how late she gets in.

But who better, we thought, to share her favourite smokey-eye products and tips...?

1  Outline the eyes and sockets with MAC Kohl Eyeliner, in Smoulder, and smudge with finger. £14 at www.selfridges.combuy here

2  With a brush use Organic Glam Smokey Eye Shadow Palette (this is a four-colour palette and Jo uses the black one), and colour in the eye socket. £32.95 at www.theorganicpharmacy.combuy here

3  For a big night use Bourjois Little Round Pot Intense Eyeshadow, in Extrait 10. £6.99 at - buy here

4  Then use Organic Glam Mascara in Jet Black. £20.95 at buy here

5  Define brows with Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil in Ash Blonde. £16.50 at buy here

•  Giovanni D:tox System Purifying & Exfoliating Facial Cleansing Towelette. £6.99 at buy here

•  Kahina Toning Mist, which is beautifully scented with Moroccan desert rose.  £38 for 50 ml at buy here

Jo never uses eye cream, but uses Organic Pharmacy Cellular Protection Sun Cream SPF30 every day. £33.95 at buy here

Hey JoMeanwhile, we do recommend Jo's autobiography, Hey Jo.  It's a page-turning account of life 'inside the Rolling Stones' (though it was never exactly dull for Jo before she married Ronnie Wood - nor since).  We're looking forward to Jo's next venture, too, as a longstanding supporter of organics;  meanwhile, she's reinvented herself as an interior designer, having always had a gift for welcoming, beautiful interiors with a touch of rock 'n' roll to them.

Truly:  the woman is smokin'.
