Sarah’s thick, coloured, prone-to-dryness mane is looking pretty fab at the moment, thanks to this US haircare line, which has just launched over here. And when hair is bouncy, glossy, swooshy and somehow falls in the right way come wind, rain and any other adverse weather conditions, it makes life positively peachy!

Beauty editors are spoilt: we get to try lots of different products. But, honestly, it’s not always as good as you might think because you are as likely to get duff products – and have to live with the results, albeit usually temporarily – as you are to strike lucky.

With Grow Gorgeous Intelligent Haircare, Sarah struck gold – almost literally since it made her highlights look 100-watt. The ‘intelligent’ bit reflects the science behind their claim to ‘nurture and nourish scalp, roots and strands’. And,apparently, a lot of consumer trials to establish what really works.

The vegan-friendly, gluten-free formulations are free from parabens, sulphates, silicones, phthalates and mineral oil. But they do contain ingredients including amino acids (vital for hair as they’re the precursors to proteins), allantoin, hyaluronic acid and oat lipid, plus a big bunch of botanicals. There’s also a ‘cuticle-smoothing technology’, which really seems to work its magic.

Interestingly, the original idea came from skincare specialists – not really that surprising since skin and hair are made of the same basic stuff, keratin. Nails, too – will they come up with a nail range next, pretty-please?

There are six different ‘Rescue and Repair’ lines for different hair types, starting with Balance for all hairtypes, which Sarah is so in love with. It offers pH-Balanced Shampoo/£14 for 250ml, and Conditioner/£16 for 250ml, plus Shine Enhancing Overnight Mask/£25 for 200ml, and new Balance Fibre Sealing Split Ends Treatment/£23 for 150 .

Other ranges are Defence, with anti-pollution ingredients for people working in the city; Curl, trialled on curls up to type 4 (fragile, wiry, dry with tight coils); Intense for hair that wants to look fuller, thicker and healthier; Repair for stressed weak or brittle hair; and finally Volume, which promises to raise the roots and plump up strands with weightless body.

That’s it! Good Hair Days sorted – whatever you started with.
