Fab Find of the Week: Rollr anti-odorants
Who’d have thought it? Roll-on deodorants just got super-sexy.
Meet Rollr, the brainchild of Milo Pinckney, who we first met last year. At that point, after four years involving over 40 formulations by three chemists, with 70 testers and (we’re told), around the same number of 3D-printed parts, this charming young man only had a prototype.
Then he popped up at the Barnes Fragrance Fair, and we were delighted to see that Rollr is a reality – and we’re very taken with it, not least the refillability. Here’s how it works…
1 First, choose your gemstone. The ‘roller’ of Rollr is one of its unique features: choose from steel, rose quartz (our choice), blue Dumortierite (a little like lapis lazuli), and green aventurine. If you don’t want to select on the basis of aeshetics, there’s an AI ‘experience curator’ (!) called Rhapsody, to help.
2 Next, select your scent. A tough call, for us – but happily, Milo gave us both the cool, fresh Vetiver & Lemon (‘invigoratingly balanced’) and the zesty-yet-grounding Mandarin & Cedarwood to try – it promises to leave you ‘upliftingly grounded’ – and we’ll happily recommend either/both. The Vetiver & Lemon is, perhaps, slightly more masculine – but honestly, both these perfumer-created scents are fab. Each little sachet promises two months of use. (Slightly strangely, there’s also a Clary Sage refill available – but it isn’t an option with the Rollr starter kit.)
3 Create your formula. By this, we mean tipping the sachet of fragran, deodorising ingredients into the vessel of the roller deo, and topping it up with water. (We love that you can do this at home, rather than transport that water around the world.)
4 Swipe and go! While not an anti-perspirant, Rollr is an ‘anti-odorant’ – designed with a blend of probiotics and prebiotics athat create an environment where beneficial microbes stock unwanted smells before they start, neutralising odours while respecting skin’s natural balance. But honestly, most of all, Rollr just elevates the whole experience of prepping for the day. And that’s not to be sniffed at.
