Fab Find of the Week: KIKO Milano Snow-Kissed Holiday Collection

Here’s a White Christmas, guaranteed, in the form of a just-landed make-up collection at KIKO Milano. (We could almost – ALMOST – have featured this as a ‘Weekend Steal’, because it’s all so reasonably priced.)

Some of the items are party-perfect, but others will find their place in our make-up bags, year-round. As with all at KIKO Milano, the textures and formulas are absolutely ace – and deliver a huge dusting of enjoyment. Our picks, from the collection, are below. (We’re avoiding the blue eyeshadow which also features in the collection, but if you are young enough to get away with it as a statement, go for it!)

Snow-Kissed Holiday Lash Sculptor Panoramic Mascara (in left-hand pic, above). Well, this is a stellar mascara in its own right, with an excellent grippy wand (it even works on Jo’s sometimes mascara-proof lashes), a wettish formula that sweeps on well, and a deep, inky jet black finish. It genuinely lifts and separates, as the old bra ads used to say!

Snow-Kissed Holiday Mountain Twins Eyeshadow (pictured next to mascara). A brilliant, richly-pigmented eye duo with a gorgeous coppery-gold shade for highlighting, and THE perfect brown-taupe for shading. Goes on smooth as silk. (We only need the merest touch of the shimmer, on the centre of the eyelid and brow-bone, but it does the flattering trick.) The packaging is lovely, too, with a raised snowflake design that feels most festive.

Snow-Kissed Holiday My Setting Duo Face Powder (bottom of pic, above right). Super clever. A loose powder and a pressed powder in one two-level compact, both of them translucent and invisible yet mattifying without looking flat, on skin, due to soft-focus powders. Don’t be put off by the apparently snow white shade: it’s weightless and sheer and satin-soft, in texture.

Snow-Kissed Holiday Icy Shimmer (left, with pipette). We were a bit ‘yeah, right!’ about this till we tried it on skin – a sort of serum-y liquid in which shimmer particles are suspended, which just kisses skin with tiny glittery flakes that aren’t too dense, but scattered here and there. Honestly, very flattering (even on our superannuated bodies), catching the light. A bit of fun and frivoloity but also, rather lovely, and it comes with a silvery kabuki brush for application.

Snow-Kissed Holiday Never Without You Mini (below). There are some absolutely delightful and great value gifts in this collection, our fave of which is this cute red make-up bag with four mini lip products slipped inside, all in shades which we think would work on anyone: a rosewood and a red matte lipstick (matte but not flat, NB), and sort-of-matching glosses. Darling, dinky and rather desirable, we think. (Alas, this is now sold out online but there’s a store finder on the page that you can check out.)
