Fab Find of the Week: Beauty Pie x Kathy Phillips aromatherapy blends

THIS WAS VERY BIG NEWS.

Big, big, big!

But here’s the thing. We had this post all ready to go in July 2023, when these bath oils first launched. And then what happened? The products sold out. And as we’ve said before, we really hate signposting you to products that you can’t buy.

So, we kept checking… and they still weren’t in stock. And then the other day, looking for something else on Beauty Pie (as is our wont), there they were. And we realised: we’d completely forgotten to share them with you, after all.

So, we’re putting that right, NOW.

This bath line-up is a collaboration between two beauty dynamos, both friends of ours and women we truly, truly admire. . One is a beauty disruptor who has launched a slew of brands, including Bliss, Remède, Soap & Glory (never forgetting FitFlop, who keep our feet so very happy) – and then most recently, the cut-out-the-middle-man Beauty Pie range, which offers beauty products at near-factory prices, if you’re signed up as a Beauty Pie member. Step up, Marcia Kilgore

Second (not really second, but someone has to go first): our esteemed and lovely beauty editor-turned-entrepreneur friend, Kathy Phillips. Ex-Vogue (well, ex- lots of Vogues, because she worked internationally), also a brilliant yoga teacher, Kathy some time ago founded the This Works brand – a long-time go-to for true aromatherapy excellence, and multi-Beauty Bible Award-winning range.

At some point, these two buddies had the idea to create a brand new aromatherapy range of bath and shower oils for Beauty Pie – and having trialled ALL the blends, now (er, over many months!), we’re slavishly devoted.

Truly concentrated and potent, properly mood-shifting, designed to tackle the challenges of daily modern life and its toll on our mental and physical health, we’ll talk you through the collection, all of which features a nourishing base blend of evening primrose, squalene, vitamin E, coconut and sunflower oils.

The Power Up Blend. For when your get-up-and-go got up and went. Happens a lot, we find – but this gets to work almost instantly when we’re feeling sluggish: a couple of drops in the palms, rubbed together, then breathed in…  (Alternatively, a dab or two on a tissue, tucked into your bra, seems to be highly effective.) Essential oils: Atlas cedarwood, patchouli, lemon, geranium.

The Power Down Blend. Can’t get to sleep? Lying there in the dark, stressing? (Yup, us, too.) Here’s a grounding, soothing, relaxing blend of ho leaf, Roman chamomile and lavender to nudge us all zzz-wards.

The Firewall Blend. We’ve all come to need this, over the past few rollercoaster years. (Not getting any less stressful out there, is it? As Beauty Pie put it, ‘For fortifying, when you just have to power through no matter what.’ Sounds familiar? Reach for this, perhaps even our favourite in the collection, with its protective blend of eucalyptus, peppermint, frankincense and niaouli.

The Reboot Blend. For ‘when you can’t switch off (but really need to, sometimes).’ Kind of a modern plague, isn’t it? The sandalwood, amyris, Himalayan cedarwood and palmarosa in here have been especially chosen to restore balance, relieve tension and re-motivate.

Because of the way Beauty Pie works, meanwhile, members can enjoy these blends for £25 for 120ml, rather than their non-member price, which is £80.

But the bottom line is: these are literally tools for modern life, and we are very happy to have them in our emotional First Aid kit. Thanks, Kathy. Thanks, Marcia. We love you more than ever.

And forgive us. BETTER LATE THAN NEVER, EH?
