Melissa Hemsley 'Feel Good' cookbook

First off, don’t you just love a cookbook that promises you’ll ‘feel good…?’ That’s the kind of food that we want to eat all the time, frankly, which is why a LOT of the pages of Melissa Hemsley’s latest book, called simply Feel Good, have the corners turned down, and the pages a bit splattered.

Always engaging, always super-readable, with recipes designed to promote physical and emotional wellbeing, what’s just as important about Melissa’s books is that they’re always achievable, too. You don’t need a cupboard-ful of odd ingredients (Jo’s larder has a special area designated ‘Ottolenghi Corner’, for spices and other obscure ingredients that his books demand).

We’re LOVING Roasted white beans with Caesar-style tahini dressing, for instance, and the Store Cupboard Soup; with her sustainability focus, Melissa inspires us with ways to use up what we’ve got rather than always buying from scratch to recreate a recipe. Lots of recipes are gluten-free, meanwhile – mindful that one of Melissa’s friends is coeliac.

To coincide with Feel Good’s publication, Melissa also revamped her website, melissahemsley.com, and has a new newsletter on Substack, the fantastic newsletter platform (which we are really enjoying), featuring new recipes and things Melissa generally loves – all good stuff. (If Melissa likes something, it’s pretty much a dead cert that Team Beauty Bible will, too.)

And if you can’t help singing the James Brown lyric ‘I feel good’, while dancing around the kitchen waiting for a delicious, health-nurturing Melissa Hemsley soup to come to a simmer – well, you’re not alone!
