Beauty Bible Loves... Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation
A wee while back, Jo was invited by The Independent to review foundations for more mature skins.
It turned into quite the epic process, with more than two dozen trialled over the space of weeks– and some real favourites identified. As Jo says, ‘It was an interesting exercise, because it’s quite a while since I’ve worn foundation. These had to perform exceptionally well to impress me – and I was surprised: several really did.’
Her overall fave find, however was this: Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation, which comes in an incredibly impressive shade range (as you can see above) – 43 in all, divided into W (Warm), C (Cool) and N (Neutral, which Jo is). Actually, Jo had been introduced to this by Tracey Clare, a brilliant Dublin-based make-up artist, while judging ‘The Pitch’ for Ireland’s The Gloss last year. ‘I looked in the mirror after Tracey had made up my face and honestly don’t think my skin has ever looked better. I went right out and bought a bottle of this – and I’ve been raving about it to everyone, ever since.’
‘What I would add, though, is while it’s pricy, the bottle will probably last me YEARS. A little goes such a long, long way – which is really the secret of its success, offering coverage without looking cake-y or mask-like. I overdid it the first few times, and ended up wiping lots off the back of my hand (although at the same time, it proved to me that it really is a good body make-up, too, because it completely “disappeared” the blue veins on the back of my hands!’
As Jo says in The Independent reviews, it really lasts, too – ‘still there beyond teatime, natural and radiant.’
