Beauty Bible Loves... The Apothecary Chef

‘Food as medicine’. It’s something we have always believed in. But you’d buy this book – and we hope you will – for the deliciousness of its recipes.

Beautifully, mouthwateringly photographed, it’s written by herbalist and chef Natasha MacAller, gathering together food, herbs, and simple rituals in a way that feels properly grounding (and achievable, even if you’re no Masterchef contender), in her new book The Apothecary Chef.

Examples of the various chapters showcasing healing recipes include ‘Good for the Gut’, ‘Everyday Joy’, ‘A Sense of Calm’, ‘Immunity Boosters’, ‘Longevity & Resilience’ and ‘Breath & Balance’. Plus there’s a directory of 50 edible plants and herbs to grow and cook – but if you’d rather buy (or forage) your ingredients, no need for green fingers.

It’s quite the roll-call of recipe writers: Allan Altschul of The Newt, Pierre Koffmann, Peter Gordon, Olia Hercules, Sean Sherman (The Sioux Chef), as well as Itamar Srulovich & Sarit Packer of Honey & Co., among others.

Recipes are really straightforward and inviting – think: deeply nourishing broths to herb-infused dishes designed to restore and rebalance. And beyond that, Natasha offers clear, practical guidance on using herbs and adaptogens to support common concerns such as fatigue, stress, and inflammation. (But there’s no hair shirt factor here – as evidenced by the recipe pictured below, for apricot dumplings!)

A useful reminder that good health needn’t be complicated – and often starts with what’s already in your kitchen.

We’ve just three words to sum it up: yum, yum, yum.
