Beauty Bible #BFF: Ruby Hammer Face Brush
The latest in our occasional series showcasing products that we’ve rediscovered, after what feels too long. (The challenge with our job: with so many new products to try, sometimes the old faves get shuffled to the back of the shelf…)
The light has changed. Suddenly, the skin tint that worked so well all summer… isn’t enough. Maybe a touch of base is required. And a dusting of powder.
But honestly, ‘dusting’ is totally the wrong thing to do, here. Long ago and far away, make-up artist Mary Greenwell told us the secret for ensuring that a face doesn’t look dusty and powdery – which is a small-scale face brush, not the big fluffy jobs that are generally put forward for the task.
Mary’s ‘prescription’ was a brush no fatter than three-quarters of an inch – and it falls to another make-up artist, the equally wonderful Ruby Hammer, to come up with the goods.
We first raved about this brush a few years back. Somehow, that original brush got lost along the way (*sob*), but a replacement was sent with a bit of a Ruby Hammer fun pack, recently – and we were reminded how fab it is. The Ruby Hammer Face Brush feels perfectly weighted in the hand, you see, and is dinky enough to slip into your bag (comes with its own velvet pouch). And it’s for more than just powder, Ruby explains; it’s ’designed for liquid, cream and powder formulas, blush, bronze, highlighter and powder.’
In other words… a brush with greatness. And a strong recommend, on the cusp of autumn.
