Sarah Loves... Summer 2022

The lighter the better is Sarah’s motto for summer make-up but that certainly doesn't mean none – it just means it should look like (almost) none… Here are the products she relies on

Dr.Hauschka Translucent Bronzing Tint (above)

A true beauty classic, this still has a place in my make-up bag. I mix it with moisturiser or a BB (see below) in my hand to get the right shade for my skin through the summer, then apply with fingertips. One tip here: don’t trowel it on – just dab and blend, repeating to build up colour and coverage. As you’d expect from the brand, the ingredients are natural including tinted mineral pigments, olive oil and medicinal plant extracts.

Erborian Super BB SPF20

This ‘covering care cream’ camouflages blemishes, redness and, in my case, age spots. It is quite simply genius. In five shades, from Clair to Chocolate, via Nude, Dore and Caramel, I wore Clair in the winter and now Nude mixed with the Dr.Hauschka tint above to get an exact match. You only need a tiny bit – much less than you’d think – so I suggest getting the 15ml size to start with. The SPF20 is a good addition but don't depend on it for sun protection if you’re soaking up the rays – you need a dedicated sunscreen for that.

Pixi On-the-Glow Bronze

This was featured as a recent Beauty Bible Loves… for a very good reason, ie I love it! The twist-up stick is a clever combi of swooshable, smooshable bronzer plus real moisturising capability, due to the hydrating emollient ingredients. In four shades, from rose gold SoftGlow to dark burnished BeachGlow, I like to blend the middle two (WarmGlow and RichGlow), sweeping up my cheekbones and even across my forehead – lovely on brow bone too.

Rouge Decorté Glow Lipstick

Luscious and luxurious, this range of 18 shades gives the dewiest shine with a slick of delicious, moisturising colour that never looks 'too much'. Team Beauty Bible were unanimous about loving all of them but oooh maybe Shade 12 be together, a rosy pink that would suit all skin/hair colours, just has the edge. But then there's Shade 02 signature red, to go with the LBD, or - in this heatwave - 21 little vacation, with a hint of a tint of watermelon. Anyway, they are all simply gorgeous - and you know the thing, when diamonds are in short supply, lipstick is absolutely a girl's bestie. Oh and just so you know there are four other finishes: Matte, Satin, Velvet and Shine - all winners with us.

Natucain Lash Serum

As the years go by, I’ve discovered that lashes are important to me. Since I started using this natural serum a few months back (see my feature here), my formerly sparse-ish lashes have become thicker and longer – which really does make me feel happier and younger. Add in the mascara below and I can bat my lashes with the best! PS yes, it’s an investment but it lasts for months.

Pure Anada Black Mascara

Unquestionably my favourite mascara ever, this won our Gold and Best Natural Awards this year. As the website proclaims, it is naturally paraben-free, gluten-free, mercury-free, formulated with Ecocert-approved ingredients. (Gluten can anecdotally trigger a reaction in coeliacs.)  It absolutely does the biz for me in terms of colour and doesn't budge so no panda eyes.
