Kjaer Weis Im-Possible Mascara

We like to kit out our make-up bags with natural products, wherever we can. But one of the compromises, always, is mascara: personally, we’ve never found a natural mascara that rivals the performance of the mainstream brands.

Until now.

From luxury natural make-up brand Kjaer Weis (she’s a make-up artist of Danish origin, working in New York), this ticks ALL our mascara boxes. Most importantly, it has a GREAT volumising wand, but also grips fine lashes (unlike some volumising mascaras which skate clean off). Actually, the wand is double-sided, cleverly: one side is curved, to boost volume, while if you flip the wand over, it defines and lengthens.

Many mascaras, we find, dry too quickly, meaning lashes go crispy-crunchy before you’ve managed to get the effect you want. This doesn’t. It’s an excellent creamy formula, offering plenty of ‘playtime’ before it sets. Then, once dry, it really doesn’t budge. Again, none of the smudging or flaking we’ve often experienced with natural mascaras.

As for ingredients? Lash-conditioning carnauba wax, acacia gum, sunflower, marula and jojoba (and many of the ingredients organic).

That sexy red case, meanwhile, is made of 50% recycled plastic and recyclable aluminium, and – perhaps best of all – can be refilled (in common with most of Kjaer’s excellent make-up), so you reuse the brush and replenish the mascara itself.

The Im-possible just became possible, natural beauty-wise.
