Beauty Bible Loves... 14-Day Manicure Removal Wraps

One for our many friends who have gel manicures, this.

We’re not so keen – but it’s an entirely personal choice, and we’ve plenty of chums and colleagues who have been unswervingly devoted to gels for years. And – no question – we regularly ‘oooh’ and ‘aaah’ about the artistry on their fingertips. (Yes, Lisa Potter-Dixon, we’re looking at YOU here, among others.)

The downside, everyone complains, is getting the flipping things off – and it’s been hard to do at home. So we reckong these are worth exploring, if you’re a gel kinda gal. Each sachet is enough for one nail. Instead of soaking cotton pads with remover and then painstakingly wrapping all your fingers in tinfoil (the usual technique), you open a sachet and slip your fingers inside, leaving in place for 15 minutes.

The acetone remover dissolves the polish, which should then crumble away – and they recommend that any last traces can be nudged from the surface with a cuticle pusher. (We’d advise a rubber hoof stick or a wooden version, rather than anything metal, which can potentially damage the nail.

The folks at 14 Day Manicure acknowledge that acetone dries the nails – which is a key reason we avoid gels – and recommend that you hydrate the nails straight away; lashings of nail oil, would be our preference, and then a hiatus (if you can bear it) before heading salon-wards to get them gelled again.

What’s more, there are 100 sachets in a pack (200 for the larger size pack) – and that’ll see you through a LOT of fancy nail jobs.

From £9 for 100 wipes – buy here
