Beauty Bible’s best of the best video tutorials

We’ve put together this hand-picked capsule collection of videos to help you discover your perfect application techniques. We have literally spent hundreds of hours in a darkened room coming up with this selection. (Oh, there’s some rubbish out there! Though we did have a snortingly funny few minutes watching one young teenager recreate a blue-faced look from Avatar…)

The videos here are all instructive. They’re how we know make-up should be applied (and how we do it ourselves). Where there are products mentioned, we’re happy to go with these – because they’re the products we’d recommend ourselves (and often have). And the make-up artists and skin pro featured here – Bobbi Brown, Lisa Eldridge, James Kaliardos and Sarah Chapman – are all incredible professionals, among the best in the world. They cover everything from choosing and using primer to the best make-up brushes, via the secret(s) of applying lipstick, and how to contour your face.

But now: click on any of the videos below – or just click here to go to the Beauty Bible Beauty Channel on YouTube. There, you’ll be able to Subscribe, and will automatically be alerted when we add any new videos – or you’re welcome to come back and check out this page, anytime.

Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘classic Hollywood look’ tutorial

Charlotte Tilbury’s one of the world’s top make-up artists –darling of Vogue, and closer-than-this with Kate Moss.  But here, in an inspiring and easy-to-follow video, Charlotte – self-confessed ‘Make-up artist, Mother, Mascara and High Heel Addict’ – works her magic on beautiful A-List stylist Bay Garnett, creating a dramatic eye look – and that red carpet must-have, the glossy, pillarbox lip.  (PS Follow her on Twitter: @CTilburyMakeup.)

Applying full strip fake lashes

Have you noticed how false lashes are HUGE…?  (In every sense of the word.)  So here’s the eye-opening how-to from the fah-bu-lous Lisa Eldridge on the art of applying false eyelashes so they flatter – rather than flutter right off again.  (And trust us:  if the last time you attempted this was the 1960s, technology has advanced apace…!)

Make-up basics: liquid blush

Applied perfectly, liquid blusher is incredibly flattering – so here, Lisa Eldridge shows you exactly how, with this easy-to-follow video.

Gone wrong, it makes you look like a panto dame, though – so we hand-picked this video from one of our all-time favourite make-up pros, to share with you an insider’s secrets of flawless, seamless liquid blushing.

(Sneaky preview:  just like applying foundation, it’s best done with a brush…)

Sarah Chapman on cleansing

We’ve always believed:  if skin isn’t perfectly cleansed, applying products afterwards is the equivalent of putting polish on a dirty floor. Uberfacialist Sarah Chapman turns cleansing into a face-waking ritual, though, here sharing her secrets of removing every last scrap of make-up/grime/gunk, while awakening the face – and perfectly ‘prepping’ it for creams.  It’s quick, easy – and boy, does it make a visible difference.
