Win serenity with Silatha meditation and jewellery
This week’s prize draw offers a way to find pools of peace and purpose within yourself: an exquisite Silatha Dorje necklace, a meditation app, a write-in-me-now journal and one hour’s coaching with Silatha founder Veroniek Vermeulen, worth a total of £399. We’ve always talked about a two-way approach to beauty. We love all the wonderful skincare and make-up that's available nowadays. We also know the vital importance of looking after our inner selves through what we eat, the supplements we take, lots of exercise (walking, gardening and in Sarah’s case riding) and to that we would add finding a way to still our super-active brains and minds. The most effective way we know is through some form of meditation.
If that sounds a bit heavy, it's actually the opposite – letting go of stresses, strains and pressures of all kinds allows you to feel light-hearted and to enjoy life more. As tension ebbs away, it shows not only in everything you do but also shines through in your face. (It’s very important to say that you don't have to do it perfectly: meditation is not a competition.)
Five years ago, Silatha founder Veroniek Vermeulen, realised that her highflying corporate life was ‘leading me instead of vice versa. I loved my job and loved the people but I was bothered that I wasn't in control of my own life’. She took off to Nepal looking for inner peace. She found it – and here Veroniek gurgles with laughter, knowing the effect of her story – through a Buddhist helicopter pilot who took her paragliding. The most important thing he taught her was a simple breathing exercise…
Veroniek ended up quitting her job and founding Silatha. Jewellery might not seem the natural partner for finding inner stillness but the Dorje was an ancient symbol used in meditation, which has been reimagined for Silatha into a beautiful necklace, with a gemstone that you choose. There’s a bracelet too, which I wear 24/7 (not included in the prize). Each piece comes with an access code to the 21-day guided meditation app.
So, the winner of this wonderful prize will receive a Silatha Dorje necklace with an invitation to download the App, the new Silatha journal and – perhaps most special of all – an hour’s coaching with Veroniek via Skype.
