Melvita Apicosma Soothing Cream

This is just so, so clever – and so deserving of its CEW Eco Award, earlier this year. We’re always interested in packaging which in itself helps to cut down on preservative use, but this almost seems ‘duh’ in its why-didn’t-anyone-think-of-it-before simplicity. The formulation’s been treated with UHT technology (the same as for milk) – flash sterilised for just a few seconds, which ensures the natural ingredients won’t spoil. In addition, it’s packaged in a new generation of ‘ultra-hermetic’ packaging, which ensures that no air can get in as you use the product up.

And did we add that we love the cream itself? Wonderfully soothing, ideal for even the most irritable and annoyable skins, featuring a patented 3-honey complex (acacia, orange blossom and thyme honeys), shea butter and sunflower oil. (The scent’s all-natural, too, with its fresh notes of mint and anise, contrasting with the soft natural fruitiness of raspberry, orange blossom and peach, and touches of vanilla and caramel. All of which makes it sound highly-scented, when in fact it’s very delicate…)
