Laura Mercier Tarte au Citron Soufflé Body Creme
Fans of good-enough-to-eat 'gourmand' smells are addicted, we know, to Laura Mercier's patisser-inpsired bath and body treats - and here's a fresh new addition to the line-up. Think lemon tart: this has the citrus zing we expect from lemon, but there's a definite almond/vanilla note adding its cake shop deliciousness to the scent. This sugary blend of gourmand ingredients includes tart lemon zest, sugared citron, bergamot, creme fraiche, neroli, jasmine, anise flowers - and in the base, whipped vanilla custard, a warm baked pastry accord, velvety musks and blonde woods.
The collection includes a Creme Body Wash and Eau Gourmand fragrance, but we're most enraptred by the body cream. Its texture is just sublime: lightly whipped, seriously rich, it incorporates skin-conditioning macadamia and grapeseed oils, plus shea butter. Skin's instantly velvetified, but not sticky.
Which is really where it differs from cake.
