Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Tinted Balm
OUR FAVOURITE NEW TINTED MOISTURISER We may not have warmed, terribly, to the late make-up artist Kevyn Aucoin (to be frank, no make-up artist Jo's worked with was ever ruder...)
But we sure love the products that are now being created in his name. So for our final entry in 'Moisturiser week', here's a new skin tint with a sublimely soft, moisturising texture: just right for adding a hint of colour to a washed-out face. (And there are plenty of those around, at the mo.)
It's interestingly-packaged: the tube is sorta squidgy (and you can see how much you've got left, because it's see-thru on one side). But what blisses us out about this formulation is the creamy, velvety texture. Not every 'tinted moisturiser' actually is moisturising (most seem to need a layer of your everyday face cream underneath, frankly) - but this is replenishing enough to use on its own, even at this time of year (and definitely will be come summer... Because there will be a summer, we promise.)
It contains skin-calming licorice among the ingredients, and according to Kevyn Aucoin, has a 'theoretic SPF20', meanwhile, shielding against UVA/UVB. Which is interesting terminology, because for once it's telling the truth: if you apply The Sensual Tinted Balm thickly enough, and all over the face, it probably does deliver that - but we wouldn't rely on it alone, if you're out in UV light. (Not least because this should be applied fairly sheer, for the most realistic results.)
We suggest you try it for yourself, if you're passing a SpaceNK.
Seems rude not to.
