Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss

Unless you pay absolutely no heed whatsoever to make-up fashions, you’ll have noticed that this is The Season of the Lip. But few lip products come with the glamour of new Rouge Allure Gloss, with surely the sexiest packaging E-V-E-R.

The ‘tube’ is a bit Krypton Factor, if you’ve never used a Rouge Allure lipstick – because to get into it, you need to click the double-C logo on the end of this sleek bit of black kit.

But then pull out the gold wand, and what you’ve got is one of the richest, most vibrant lip glosses we’ve ever tried. And along with the super-high levels of pigment, there are lip-caring ingredients including matcha green tea butter (yes, that’s a new one to us, too), and vitamin E. So it actually feels comfortable – yet has good staying power.

There are 10 permanent shades altogether, from nude 11 Sensuel through to deep rouge-noir-ish Distinction, but pretty much everything in between. (You’ll also find one limited edition shade, 20 Audace, which is a deep brown-y pink.)

We’re sold on the very, very daring 19 Pirate: a fabulous deep red. Yes, it requires courage.  Bold, for sure. But utterly Autumn 2014, in every way.

So we’re throwing down the red lip gauntlet. Let us know how you get on.
