Benefit Fake Up

Concealers with a difference don’t come along every day.  Probably the last real innovation was YSL’s brush-style Touche Eclat, which spawned legions of copycats. Fake Up, though – from Benefit – genuinely is something new.  It looks like a moisturising lipstick, but in a complexion-matched shade.  Running through the core is a stick of hydration, boosted by vitamin E and apple extract:  it’s smooth, creamy and easily blendable.

Surrounding the core is a more traditional cream-style light-diffusing concealer – which also happens to be very good at covering up shadows and circles, yet isn’t too illuminating or shiny to use on flaws like red veins.

What we especially like about this is that as the day wears on (and your make-up almost inevitably wears off), it blends easily into skin to refresh your make-up.  No caking or flaking or settling into lines, and the staying power of the concealer itself is pretty impressive.

We predict lots of copies.  But we say:  they’ll never be able to fake the brilliance of Benefit's original creation.
