Jo loves… Several more make-up steals, Liz Earle’s glorious new fragrance (and she’s learning how to descend a staircase like a screen goddess, too…)

How to be Adored: A Girl’s Guide to Hollywood Glamour How to be Adored:  A Girl’s Guide to Hollywood Glamour by Caroline Cox (Quadrille, £12.99 – or £8.43 at amazon.co.uk if you click here).  As someone whose concept of beauty was shaped by endless black-and-white Hollywood movies (watched from the sofa with my mother on Saturday afternoons), this is right up my boulevard:  all you need to know about recreating movie-star glamour, from how to wash your face like Audrey Hepburn, speak like Grace Kelly, what to do with your body type (whether it’s Mae West-curvy or Katharine Hepburn-boyish), how to descend a staircase movie-star style or do your lips like Joan Crawford – and countless more delicious nuggets of beauty wisdom to dip into, in bed.  (With your hands slathered in cream but encased in white cotton gloves, preferably.)

L’Oréal Glam Shine Volumizer 6hL’Oréal Glam Shine Volumizer 6h, £7.82, from www.boots.com.  This is most definitely the lip gloss which I’ll be slipped into my evening bag as the party season approaches:  a gorgeously gold-flecked gloss (my favourite shade is Endless Carmine – a very-this-season burgundy), in which the shimmering particles create an illusion of fullness.  Two ingredients – menthol and something called ‘polypol’ (I’ve had to put my natural-beauty-leanings aside for this) give a slightly tingling feeling – rather nice and fresh, actually.  (The 6h refers to ‘six hours’, we think – though like most glosses, it actually doesn’t last anything like that long.)

Liz Earle Botanical Essence Eau de Parfum No. 1Liz Earle Botanical Essence Eau de Parfum No. 1, £39.50 for 50 ml, from www.uk.lizearle.com. It’s a simple fact:  it’s not just me who loves this, but everyone whose nostrils I’ve wafted this under has also loved the debut fragrance launch from Liz Earle.  As you’d expect from the queen of botanical beauty, it’s 98% natural – with essences derived from Damask rose, Italian bergamot, spicy patchouli and high-altitude lavender, plus mandarin, lemon, cardamom, geranium, vetiver and cedarwood – and the result is a oh-so-wearable blend that’s light and pretty enough for day, but sophisticated enough for night.  My wrists feel positively naked without it.

Clinique Brush-On Cream LinerClinique Brush-On Cream Liner, £12, from www.boots.com.  A long, long time ago make-up artist Terry de Gunzburg (creator of the genius By Terrry range) introduced me to the idea that deep aubergine eyeshadow and liner makes my blue eyes look positively oceanic.  So a happy discovery is the limited edition deep plummy Violet Luxe shade of this liner:  a creamy formula (best applied with a fine-ish brush) which then sets to a budge-proof, smudge-proof, tear-proof finish.  I’ll be buying two.

Myface.cosmetics MyMix Foundation
Myface.cosmetics MyMix Foundation
, £12.71 (at www.boots.com;  click on the product name to find it).  From the range created by make-up genius Charlotte Tilbury, a genius base (at a fantastic price):  with a dewy finish (very like my favourite but discontinued Armani version), it pulls off the trick of being sheer but amazingly concealing at the same time.  The perfect everyday, workaday base, from this absolutely brilliant, great-value range (can’t recommend too highly that you check the whole lot out next time you’re near a big Boots, because touching and trying is believing, with Myface).

Sarah loves. Fabulous 'beauty steals' for winter skin - perfect stocking fillers too!

A’kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil
A’kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil
, £14.67 for 23 ml, from www.victoriahealth.com.  We absolutely love facial oils and this 100% certified-organic Beauty Bible Award-winner, which comes in at an amazingly reasonable price, smells divine and is suitable for all skintypes - and yes, that does include oily.  You can use morning and night, just apply 3-4 drops and massage gently in, then follow with a light moisturiser.

Weleda Lavender Relaxing Body OilWeleda Lavender Relaxing Body Oil
, £8.95 for 100 ml, from www.weleda.co.uk.  Another totally natural product from a brand we trust, with organic lavender to sooth mind and body, in a base of organic sesame and sweet almond oils.  Use straight on skin, in the bath, or as a massage blend.

Faith in Nature 3-in-1 Facial Wipes
Faith in Nature 3-in-1 Facial Wipes
, £2.75 for 25 wipes, from www.victoriahealth.com.  Really soft, natural viscose wipes impregnated with natural essential oils, plus aloe vera, allantoin and vitamin C, to cleanse and moisturise at the same time.  Brilliant! (NB don’t forget you get a 5% discount and free online postage with Victoria Health.)

Korres Honeysuckle Hand Cream SPF15 Korres Honeysuckle Hand Cream SPF15
, £8.75 for 75 ml, from www.asos.com.  According to this Greek natural brand, honeysuckle not only smells sweet (and reminds me of summer days) but is soothing, calming and anti-inflammatory.  This hand cream, which did very well in our recent round of Tried & Tested surveys, also boats nail-strengthening vitamins B5 and 8, protective vitamin E and zinc oxide to filter UV rays.

Essential Care Organic Rose Moisturiser
Essential Care Organic Rose Moisturiser
, £18.50 for 50 ml, from www.victoriahealth.com: heavenly scented, light day cream, featuring shea butter, jojoba oil, aloe leaf, omega-7 rich sea buckthorn and, of course, damask roses in the form of essential oil and hydrolat (another extract).  Wonderful for keeping skin velvety in winter.  Do splash out and try their good-enough-to-eat Coconut Scrub too, £28 for a big 200g pot, which did very well in surveys for The Green Beauty Bible and  won the Best Organic Bodycare in the Natural and Organic Awards 2009.

Rose & Co Sweet Feet SalveRose & Co Sweet Feet Salve, £5 for 20 g from www.victoriahealth.com:  in an irresistible retro tin, this intensive treatment salve, rich in oils and waxes, will keep tootsies soft and smooth through the cold season.
