TRIED & TESTED UPLIFTING BATH TREATS
In general, these come into their own at this time of year – when most of us suffer from the winter ‘blahs’. However, if you’re anything like us, those winter ‘blahs’ came early – long before Christmas! So we are eternally grateful to the circulation-revving, mind-clearing, energy-turbo-charging power of uplifting bath products to help us think clearly and find the ‘get-up-and-go’ to – well, get out of bed, frankly. Based on the products that have scored best with our testers in our recent books, here are some fabulous Uplifting Bath Treats. (And do look out in stores for special Beauty Bible Awards stickers on some of these products, both in-store and on-line…)

After shower – uplifted, refreshed and zingy!’ • ‘my headache went and I felt much brighter and happier!’ • ‘my skin felt clean, fresh, smooth and wonderfully silky afterwards’ • ‘I felt instantly invigorated’ • ‘I’m finding this slowly addictive’.
The Organic Pharmacy Neroli Bath Oil Score: 7.72/10 Price: £39.95 for 100 ml; find it on-line at www.theorganicpharmacy.com, if you clickhere.
Neroli is the sweet, breath-of-spring flower of the orange tree, which famously has the effect of uplifting the spirits. In this luxurious (and decidedly luxuriously-priced) bath treat, it’s blended with skin-nourishing oils of jojoba, rosehip, wheatgerm and sunflower. Comments: ‘Loved the unsweetened orange scent; felt recharged, alert and perkier’ • ‘left my skin delicately fragranced and moisturised; didn’t need a body lotion’ • ‘I was amazed at the instant effect this had on my mood’ • ‘lifted my spirits and relaxed my body’ • ‘skin was much softer than usual’ • ‘very soothing and moisturising – and lasts for a long time’.
This Works Energy Bank Bath & Shower Oil Score: 7.55/10 Price: £32.80 for 55 ml – but you get a 5% discount and free postage & packing (plus a free gift!) at www.victoriahealth.com, if you click here.
Our testers raved about this ‘energy blockbuster’, from the brand founded by our friend Kathy Phillips. It’s a fusion of ylang-ylang, patchouli, geranium, sandalwood and rosemary essential oils. Comments: ‘Fantastic fragrance, and very natural – I felt uplifted, mentally clear, raring to go!’ • ‘this is the ultimate pamper product’ • ‘gorgeous aroma, not too overpowering, instantly invigorating and relaxing – all at once!’ • ’expensive, but it lasts for ages’.
Weleda Pine Reviving Bath Milk Score: 6.85/10 Price: £8.95 for 200 ml – or find it on-line at www.lovelula.com where you’re entitled to a 5% discount as a Beauty Bible insider; just click here to find it.
A brand that’s been around for over 80 years, Weleda bucks the trend for constantly updating its formulations and packaging to remain true to its biodynamic roots (biodynamics = ‘organics plus’, with ingredients planted and harvested according to the moon’s cycle, among other rituals). Their bath milks were formulated 70 years ago by doctors at Weleda’s health clinics; this option features fir and pine (both from Siberia), and they recommend this invigorating, mountain-fresh milk after a tiring or stressful day, but also to warm you up after a cold, damp day. Comments: ‘So pleasant: a very natural pine smell that left me relaxed and also energised; skin felt soft, too’ • ‘I love this natural wonder, which has rid me of prejudice against synthetic pine baths: I felt tired, uninspired and irritable and emerged refreshed, soothed and inspired, with energy’ • ‘great for releasing you from petty stresses and strains before a night out’ • ‘looks great on the shelf’ • ‘fab pure ingredients; skin felt soft and moisturised and very dry skin on legs not as scaly as usual’ • ‘not the “toilet cleaner” fragrance associated with pine; lifted my spirits and I felt re-energised’.
