From one of our all-time favourite make-up artist ranges, this is a fantastic low-maintenance shadow for a summer eye look: it’s a crease-resistant powder with a velvety-soft texture, so soft it can either be smoothed onto lids with a finger (unlike some powder shadows), or applied with brushes. Wonderfully buildable, for a smokier intensity (just add water, for real intensity) - and our favourite in the range of seven shades is shimmering bronze Brocade.

 Clarisonic Classic, £155. We’ve heard so many amazing anecdotal reports of how Clarisonic’s Sonic Cleansing System has revolutionised problem skins. Suitable for all ages, all skintypes and skintones, it deep-cleanses skin using a patented sonic frequency, so removing even built-up dirt and gunk. At the same time, the bristle action gently exfoliates, while encouraging blood flow. It comes with its own cleanser, but you can use it with a favourite of your own. (We hear amazing results on teen and problem skins, meanwhile.) Our favourite? The baby Pink shade, but this übergizmo does also come in classic White, and soft Grey.

 Le Métier de Beauté Concealer Brush, £42. We were big fans of Le Métier when you could find it at Liberty’s department store – and then it disappeared off the radar. Now it’s back – at Zuneta – where you can find sublimely-textured products, often with innovative formulas, and some truly world-class tools. We especially love this nifty brush – like a mini-foundation brush, and just brilliant for targeting blemishes with concealer. (With a proper foundation brush, it’s just way too easy to overdo things.) Genius.

 Edward Bess All Over Seduction, £29. In summer, matte and velvety textures work less well, and faces benefit from a touch of light, here and there. This is a longstanding favourite of Jo’s: you can use it to add just a whisper of gleam and glamour to brows, eyelids, upper lip (it enhances the cupid’s bow gorgeously, without looking sweaty!), as well as to cheekbones or clavicles (the bony bits of your décolletage).  Butter London Stiletto Stick, £27. We just love the sandal season, and showing off our feet – but despite nightly slathering of rich products, and regular medi-pedis with Margaret Dabbs, there are moments when a little extra TLC is required. This is a swivel-up moisturiser in a stick, for dry heels – so that your rear view (in stilettos or open-toed sandals) isn’t all papery and rhino-esque. Ideal for slipping into the handbag to stay, ahem, one step ahead of foot dryness.
