I read one of your articles which seemed to recommend a solid perfume by Dr Bach's Rescue Remedy. However, I'm having difficulty finding it anywhere. Did I misunderstand your recommendation, or is it not available yet? The reason I would like a reasonably priced solid perfume is that my husband reacts strongly to any spray perfume.
You’re right:  these solid perfumes can be less overwhelming, and if you do want to check out the Les Fleurs de Bach range, the ‘Treating Fragrances’ are actually very subtle, and ......
Years ago I was given a large bottle of perfume called Panache. I've not seen it in the shops, or indeed, anywhere else for many years. My daughter will be 18 next month, and I'd love to buy her a bottle. Does anyone know where I can buy some, please?
Yardley perfumes - who created Panache - were bought out by another company,  Fine Fragrances & Cosmetics Ltd., in 1999; distribution is slowly improving for the range (but we can’t vouch ......
Is it possible to buy perfumes that are for ‘dabbing’ subtly, rather than sprays that are totally overpowering for the wearer and everyone else? My husband was searching for one and all the perfume counters he visited insisted they were extinct!
No, fragrances you dab on your pulse point haven’t gone the way of the dinosaur – but it’s true:  you do have to work a little harder to sniff them out. ......
I have been reading the section in one of your books on perfume, and I notice that you mention nothing about wearing scent to attract a man. I was working in an office two years ago alongside a guy I really liked. He kept asking what I was wearing, and I told him: Burberry Weekend. It’s actually driven a lot of men I know crazy! So could you please give information on scents to attract the men in your life - I’m looking for something really sexy….!
Of course perfume has traditionally been used to attract the opposite sex – though today, many women we know wear it just for their personal enjoyment.  Here are some of our ......
I have recently been to a colour analyst who said I am an ‘Autumn’, and that I should be trying woody, musky perfumes. What can you recommend or suggest that I try?
We suggest that you first of all try our own all-time favourite fragrance, Guerlain’s Mitsouko - available only at Guerlain counters nationwide, so you can try before you buy (which you ......
I have no sense of smell whatsoever and need to know what to buy in terms of candles, room fragrances, bath oils. I want something light and floral. I’ve read info on Jo Malone’s Lime Blossom and Liz Earle Harmony; would these work and can you recommend anything else? I am a ‘young-ish’ 53.
Oh, gosh, a tough one – we’re very taken with the new Floracologie range, available at larger Sainsbury’s stores, with fragrances created by talented aromatherapist Glenda Taylor; the range is Lie ......
I recently went on holiday to Wakefield, England and spotted a perfume there that I adored! The only problem is that I can't find the perfume here in Scotland, so I was wondering if you could possibly tell me if they have a website or supply number. The perfume is called Lolita Lempicka…
Our friend Kirsty Lewis (the PR for Lolita Lempicka) tells us that in Scotland you can find it at Passion for Perfume stores. (There’s also a stockist’s number: 0845-688 3343.) More ......
I’d love to buy some books on fragrance – what do you suggest? And I’m also hoping to track down a fragrance called Stila Crème Bouquet…
First, that fragrance: find this sweet, delicate blend of vanilla, pink lilac and lily of the valley on-line at Space NK, price £36, if you click here. As for books on ......
I'd like your views on perfume, please. I use organic skincare but the natural perfumes I have tried are all HORRID! What do you think of chemicals in perfume? I know you like natural brands where possible, but do you use perfume?
Yes, we use perfume – but frankly, these days, just for special occasions rather than every single day. (Rather like our mums did, in fact – and it does actually make ......
Years ago I bought a fragrance by Nina Ricci called Deci Dela - I think that's how it was spelled - but haven't been able to find it anywhere since. I loved the smell and wondered if you knew where I could get it from?
We’ve tracked down a couple of websites which carry stock of this gorgeously-packaged, fruity-fresh fragrance (which Jo wore, for a while, when it was launched in the 90s). You can find ......
Can you help me locate a fragrance by Prescriptives called Calyx? There are no department stores near me that carry it (Aberdeen), and all the net sites that offer it are in the US.
Calyx is one of Sarah’s fave fragrances, too, and we’re delighted to say that it’s available by mail order from the Prescriptives counter at Harrods – just call them on 020-7730 ......
Can you help me locate a perfume called Ciara? I’m sure it’s by Revlon or Charles Revson – and it may have originated in the States…
Ciara was indeed a Revlon fragrance but was discontinued worldwide back in the late 1970s and is not available through Revlon at all. Although, when we did a search of it ......
How long will a fragrance last - and how should I store it?
\'Six months, if stored correctly; fragrance\'s greatest enemies are heat and light,\' says Roja Dove, Professeur de Parfums for Guerlain. \'But think of it like wine - once opened, consume and ......
How can I get free samples?
This is probably the most-asked question of all. Suggests Claudia Lucas, Selfridges\' Head of Buying, Perfume & Cosmetics: \'if you\'ve read about a product, go to the counter and explain that ......
How do I find a long-lost fragrance? I've been searching for the Givenchy fragrance Fleur d'Interdit but can only find it on American fragrance websites. Do you know where else I might be able to find it?
Good news: it\'s available in the UK - and if you click on this link, it\'ll take you straight there (www.1st-shopping-directory.co.uk/prfmsuk.html). Actually, the internet is a fantastic way to track down ......
Please can you locate a perfume called Albacio? All I know is that I was given an bottle a few years ago from Harrods who say they no longer stock it. I believe it comes from Italy.
We\'re pretty sure the fragrance you\'re looking for is by Laura Biagiotti and is actually called Il Bacio (translates as \'kiss\') - and we\'ve tracked it down for you at www.dealtime.co.uk; ......
