Q&A

Here we answer your some of your most pressing questions . . . If you’ve got a beauty conundrum, browse any of the categories listed below (or in the column on the left). Click on the category and see if we’ve already come up with a solution. Click on any question (the pink text) and that will reveal the full answer. To use the search box; put double quote marks (inverted commas) around phrases for more accurate results. For example, search for "nail varnish remover".

If you can't find a suitable answer, e-mail us – and we’ll do our best to include your question in a future Q&A update. You could also try looking in our Beauty Info section, just click here.

I read one of your articles which seemed to recommend a solid perfume by Dr Bach's Rescue Remedy. However, I'm having difficulty finding it anywhere. Did I misunderstand your recommendation, or is it not available yet? The reason I would like a reasonably priced solid perfume is that my husband reacts strongly to any spray perfume.

You’re right:  these solid perfumes can be less overwhelming, and if you do want to check out the Les Fleurs de Bach range, the ‘Treating Fragrances’ are actually very subtle, and work miraculously on the emotions in the same way Dr. Bach’s flower remedies do. We do very much like the fragrances from this range. They’re reasonably priced at £19.50 for 50 ml from www.victoriahealth.com, if you click here – and remember, you get a 5% discount and free postage and packing on everything at Victoria Health when you visit from our site. A fragrance house creating solid perfumes that you might want to check out is Miller Harris – probably the Geranium Bourbon Solid Balm, rather than heady Tubéreuse - but it’s not cheap at £34 for a teeny 5g pot.  (Find them on-line here, at www.millerharris.com).  Another pretty (and pretty affordable) option is L’Occitane Rose Solid Perfume, £6.50 at www.asos.com if you click here.
