July 19th, 2009: Organic Tinted Moisturiser
Q I am looking for a certified organic tinted moisturiser, but am confused as most of the products are American. Would you be able to recommend any companies doing a suitable-for-all-skin- types, certified tinted moisturiser?
A Our first suggestion is to do what we do and customise your own moisturiser by adding a little bit of Lotus & White Tea Bronzing Fluid by Sante Facial Care, £14.50 for 30ml, from www.beautybazaar.co.uk
Long before tinted moisturisers came on the market we used to mix up our own blends (for our faces, and also add a little bit of self tan to body lotion for lily lallies etc). Just squidge a blob of moisturiser in your palm or on the back of your hand, then add a dab of Bronzing Fluid and mix ‘til it’s the right colour. You might need to experiment a little, so err on the side of caution – though frankly we’ve never had frightening results. So that’s a very cheap and easy option.
You can also mix your favourite liquid foundation (aka base) in the same way; for organic bases, try the Logona Cosmetics Liquid Foundation range, £16 for 30ml, or Sante Soft Cream Foundation, £17.90 for 30ml, both available in several shades from www.beautybazaar.co.uk

The leading German natural brand Lavera do a Tinted Moisturiser Cream, £10.70 (also from www.lovelula.com), which gives some coverage to even out skin tone and camouflage small blemishes. Again, it contains some certified organic ingredients. Lavera points out – and we echo – that if your skin is very dry, you should gently massage in a day cream first.

We’ll be frank: it’s been a while since Lancôme came up with a cracker of a fragrance, but this makes up for lost time: a wonderful, wearable ‘floral chypre’ fragrance, which kicks off with fresh notes of mandarin and pink peppercorns, has a rosepetal-and-honey heart - and soon becomes ultra-nuzzleable and subtly sexy on the skin, thanks to base notes of benzoin vanilla, tonka beans and lashings of patchouli.
